Abstrak

Limited healthcare administrative literacy remains a significant barrier to optimal access to healthcare services. Many community members have insufficient knowledge of patient registration procedures, administrative requirements, the utilization of Indonesia's National Health Insurance (BPJS Kesehatan), and the referral system, which may hinder effective use of healthcare services. This community service program aimed to improve healthcare administrative literacy among residents of Balakka Village, Padangbolak Julu District, North Padang Lawas Regency. The program was conducted in February 2026 using the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) approach through health education, interactive discussions, simulations, and direct assistance. The implementation consisted of preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages using pretest and posttest instruments, with data analyzed descriptively. The results demonstrated a substantial improvement in participants' knowledge of healthcare administration. The average score increased from 61.3 in the pretest to 87.5 in the posttest. Participants with good knowledge increased from 26.7% to 83.3%, while those with poor knowledge decreased from 23.3% to 0%. Participants also actively engaged in discussions and simulations and showed better understanding of healthcare administrative procedures, BPJS Kesehatan utilization, and the referral system. These findings indicate that the program effectively improved healthcare administrative literacy and is expected to facilitate better access to healthcare services in the community.
