HUBUNGAN PERILAKU IBU DENGAN KEJADIAN STUNTING PADA BALITA DI DESA AEK TUHUL KECAMATAN PADANGSIDIMPUAN BATUNADUA

Stunting is a growth and developmental disorder experienced by children and is defined as a condition of being shorter than the standard height for age. Maternal parenting practices play a crucial role in fulfilling toddlers’ nutritional needs, and these practices are influenced by mothers’ behaviors in providing nutrition. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal behavior and the incidence of stunting among toddlers in Aek Tuhul Village, Padangsidimpuan Batunadua District, Padangsidimpuan City. This study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted in November 2021. The sampling technique used was total sampling, involving 33 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and observation. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square statistical test with SPSS. The results showed that 22 mothers (65.6%) had good behavior, while 11 mothers (34.3%) had poor behavior. The number of stunted toddlers was 11 (34,3%), while 22 toddlers (65,6%) were categorized as normal. The chi-square test results obtained a p-value of 0.000, which was smaller than the significance level (?) of 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). This indicates that there is a significant relationship between maternal behavior and the incidence of stunting among toddlers in Aek Tuhul Village, Padangsidimpuan Batunadua District, Padangsidimpuan City.
